Over the years, we have reached a wide knowledge of steel plates, both in common and special steels.

We don’t keep items on stock, therefore supplies can be made either  through specialized commercial partners or placing scheduled orders with steel mills, according to minimum lots of production.

HEAVY QUARTO PLATEShot rolled and forged

Description: Plates are produced starting from a bloom that, after an appropriate pre-heating, passes many times under the rolls of a rolling mill, moving back and forth (just called reversible mill), until the thickness is reduced to the needed.
The plates with a thickness over 150/180 mm are produced through a process of forging: the bloom runs under the hammer of a press and it is reduced to the needed thickness.
Grades: All kind of grades, both common and special. In particular:

  • structural steels (S235 > S355), also resistant to corrosion, S355JOW/S355JOWP (like Corten);
  • steels for boilers and pressure vessels, alloyed and not: P275GH, P355GH, 16Mo3, etc.;
  • quenching and tempering or case hardening steels:C40/45, 42CrMo4, 20MnB5, 20MnC5;
  • anti-wear steels: like HB 400 and up to HB 500 (similar to Hardox).

Also: steels for shipbuildingtool steels, steels for offshore platforms, high-yield steels, etc.

Edges: Normally supplied with raw edges (as rolled), but also sheared or cut by flame, on request.
Surface: Simply rolled or sandblasted and/or with primer paint.
Heat treatment:
Normally in the natural (as rolled) state, or with thermo-mechanical rolling; thicknesses normally over 100 mm can be supplied normalized on request.
Norm: Production and tolerances acc to EN 10029, as well as the norms ruling the different kind of grades produced.
Thickness: Rolled: 4 ÷ 180 mm.
Forged: 150 ÷ 350 mm (usually only structural steels).

HOT ROLLED SHEETSin coils

Description: After a first transit under the rolling mill, the plate – already thinned – continues its journey and enters a series of rolling stations, that obtain a sheet of the needed thickness and variable length, shears the edges if needed and, as last step, rolls it up in a coil of standard dimensions (normally, in widths 1000÷2000 mm) and weighing up to 25-30 TONS each.
Grades:
  • structural steels (S235 > S355), also resistant to corrosion, S355JOW/S355JOWP (like Corten);
  • steels for boilers and pressure vessels, alloyed and not: P275GH, P355GH, 16Mo3, etc.;
  • quenching and tempering  steels:C40/45;
  • anti-wear steels: like HB 400 and up to HB 500 (similar to Hardox).
Edges: Normally supplied with raw edges (as rolled), but also sheared or cut by flame, on request.
Surface: Simply rolled or sandblasted and/or with primer paint.
On request, they can be supplied pickled and/or galvanized.
Heat treatment: Normally in the natural (as rolled) state, or with thermo-mechanical rolling.
Normalized on request.
Norm: EN10051.
Thickness: 2,0 ÷ 25,0 mm.

COLD ROLLED SHEETSin coils or in strips

Description: With cold rolling process it is possible to obtain strips of a thinner thickness, with restricted tolerances and bright surface. After the process, the coil can be divided into strips with shorter width, through a cutting machine called slitter, and afterwards cut in strips, through a flattening machine, or simply re-coiled and packed.
Grades: As above.
Edges: Sheared or rounded.
Heat treatment: In the natural state or normalized.
On some grades (e.g. for springs) also tempered.
Norm: EN10130, EN 10131.
Thickness: 0,15 ÷ 8,0 mm.
Flattering: Feasible on thicknesses 0,8 mm ÷ 20 mm (> 8 mm only hot rolled) and width: 30 ÷ 1000 mm.
Feasibility as regards to the relation thickness/width/length is evaluated by the technicians upon order and is communicated to clients immediately.
